Yes, this is a separate subject called; Character Building. 40 lessons pr. year for classes 1-2. 50 lessons for classes 6-8. 55 lessons for classes 9 and 10.

Will the students be graded in this subject and how can we be sure that it won't be seen as yet another burden on the children?
Characters cannot be graded by schools as such. The purpose of this course is to enlighten, inspire, train and encourage children towards righteousness.
Students will receive evaluating comments of performance at the end of the semester with praise and constructive criticism.
Almost no homework and no punishment rituals. This course should In Sha Allah not be seen as a burden by the children but an interesting “refreshment” due to its creative and involving approach.
Is it a requirement to start teaching this subject from Class 1 onwards?
No, there is no such requirement. However, it is recommended to at least complete a Key Stage as it will support, further develop and strengthen the taught ethics.
